BIG BLUE

Big Blue caters for all levels of divers from people who have never dived and want to give it a go, to those with thousands of dives under their weight belts.

We run boat trips out to the reefs and wrecks around Port Vila and Mele Bay twice a day. Night dives run at least once a week. Our local Ni-Vanuatu dive masters and instructors have been diving our sites for many years, some for over 20 years. They are passionate about our beautiful underwater world and love showing off their stunning “back yard” to our visitors.

Vanuatu is home to 295 different species of coral and a myriad of colourful reef fish, which makes for fabulous reef diving and is great for underwater photographers. The fish come in all sizes, shapes and colours from tuna, sharks and rays to the small but beautiful anthias and butterfly fish. There are also numerous species of fascinating invertebrate such as the colourful nudibranchs, shrimps, octopi and lobsters. We often encounter turtles on our dives; in fact we can’t remember the last night dive when we didn’t spot a turtle. Occasionally a dugong may come along to see what the divers are up to and manta rays and whale sharks are occasional visitors to our shores.

We have 3 boats; “The Lady” is a 9m purpose build dive boat taking up to 14 divers, “Scuba Blue” and “Taiou Marie” which are smaller boats. Having multiple boats give us the flexibility to take our divers to sites that suit their ability. We believe dive equipment should be of the best quality. We use Scubapro regulators and BCD for our hire gear and are replaced regularly, as are our tanks and valves.

If you want to learn to dive, our instructors are professional, experienced and patient. We teach more people to dive than any other dive centre in Vanuatu. During your course we will take you out to experience the beauty of the reefs under the watchful eye of our instructors. The pool sessions are held at local hotels so depending on where you are staying it may even be at the convenience of your own hotel.

Already a diver and want to improve your skills? We have a course for you! You might want to become an advance open water diver or a rescue diver or even a Divemaster. Several of our instructors are qualified to teach the wreck and deep diver specialty courses and our head instructor Jerry has the underwater photographer specialty instructor qualification.

We are the only PADI 5 start Instructor Development Dive Resort in Vanuatu. So if you want to go all the way and become a PADI instructor come and join Big Blue on one of our Instructor Development Courses.
